The "Partagás" cigar factory in Havana, Cuba, was founded in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagás. Since then, the cigars have been named after him and are available in a variety of formats. The Lusitania and the 8-9-8 take their names from the way they are stacked in three layers in the box. All shapes are handmade, tripa larga - completely handmade long fillers.
If there is a well-known cigar factory in Havana, then it is the Partagás factory. It is located at Calle Industria 520, directly behind the Capitol in the centre of the city. Don Jaime Partagás introduced the brand in 1845. Since then, the cigars have been named after him.
The rich, earthy aroma of the Partagás makes it easy to recognise. The profile of this blend comes from a selection of filler and binder leaves from the tobacco growing region of Vuelta Abajo, chosen for their particular richness of flavour and aroma.
Partagás comes in different sizes, including the Lusitania and the 8- 9-8, which takes its name from the way it is stacked in three layers in the box.
The Partagás Serie D No.4, a Robusto that was part of the famous Partagás alphabet in the 1930s, is probably the best known. This line has been expanded since 2011 by the Partagás Serie D No.5 and the Partagás Serie E No.2.
